Elephant Parade Amsterdam 2009

Posted in events by menno1976 on September 16, 2009

From September onwards, a hundred full size art elephants will swarm the streets of Amsterdam, the Netherlands: together, they form a remarkable open-air exhibition to raise attention for the Asian elephant, that is threatened with extinction.

The Elephant Parade was founded by father and son Mike and Marc Spits. The previous two editions of the exhibition raised a total amount of over €700,000! The benefits of the Elephant Parade are donated to the Elephant Family, which is the largest elephant charity in the world, founded in 2002 by philanthropist, travel writer and conservationist Mark Shand.
The elephants created by various celebrities will be auctioned by Christie’s on November 12th 2009 at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. The next Elephant Parade will be held in London.
