AJ Fosik’s Beasts

According to AJ Fossik his wooden sculptures take the form of these totem-like beasts or monsters because they’re the manifestations of ideas or concepts that he’s wrestling with while he’s working. His work sometimes reminds me of Balinese masks or wrathful Dharmapalas (ferocious defenders of Buddhism) The bright colours and the gaping mouths may perhaps seem a little threatening, but I think these beasts are actually quite benevolent, just like the Dharmapalas…
