New Angles: daily inspiration

Clayrew’s Guardians and Goddesses

Posted in ceramics, crafts - art by menno1976 on September 3, 2009

I’m addicted to Etsy. Looking for all things handmade or vintage has never been more fun and easy! I always get so inspired by all that creativity on the site.
Lately I’m attracted to softer, pagan-looking items and that’s probably because I’ve been listening to too much Goldfrapp’s Seventh Tree… Ceramic and fiber artist Clayrew‘s work in particular reminds me of the Maltese fertility temples and the Venuses from Asia Minor. These great mothers are watching over us and are connected to the animal kingdom, our deeper, hidden emotions and the spirit world. How can anyone resist them?
